Drumbeat and Transitions
Stonnington Youth Services deliver 2 School based programs to interested schools in Stonnington.
SYS Transitions Program is delivered to Grade 6 students in Term 3 or 4 in order to support students and their parents through what can be a challenging time.
The program is delivered across four sessions, addressing: Change, Concerns and Hopes, Interpersonal Skills, Practical Skills and Goal Setting.
The program covers general information about school transition, anxious about school, as well as some discussion on what to expect with secondary school.
DRUMBEAT is a structured learning program using drumming to build social and emotional resilience and healthy relationship skills.
DRUMBEAT is generally delivered across ten, one hour sessions. Each session combines hand drumming, rhythm games and discussion. Importantly the program concludes with a performance, giving students the opportunity to showcase their new found skills, confidence and to share their progress with respected people in their lives.
DRUMBEAT has been proven to:

- Increase emotional regulation, self esteem and self awareness
- Improve interpersonal skills and problem solving skills
- Reduce in anxiety, tension and stress
